SEATTLE — A judge has found probable cause to hold a 24-year-old man for investigation of two counts of murder in the separate deaths of his grandmother and a 21-year-old house sitter.
The King County District Court judge also set bail Thursday at $2 million for Zachary Craven.
The medical examiner’s office has identified the slain house sitter as Meagan Smith. The Seattle Times reports she was watching a house in the south Seattle suburb of Renton for the vacationing family of one of her friends, a woman who had recently broken up with Craven.
Renton police Cmdr. David Leibman has said the returning family found her dead just before midnight Tuesday.
The Times says Craven’s grandmother, Angelika Hayden, was found dead Tuesday evening in her home. She lived in the Skyway area near Renton. A King County sheriff’s spokesman has said a court order barred Craven from contacting the older woman.
