TACOMA — A fire Monday cause significant damage to a Tacoma-area church that was in the process of rebuilding after a September arson.
Central Pierce Fire and Rescue says the fire at the Golgotha Baptist Church was difficult to control because the roof collapsed.
A spokesman, Ed Hrivnak, sayid no one was believed to be inside and it’s unclear how the fire started.
The News Tribune reported that the congregation is made up of immigrants from Moldova and services are conducted in their native language. More than 300 people attend Sunday services.
The church in the Midland community was destroyed in the September arson that caused $1 million damage. A suspect was arrested.
