EVERETT — A six-inch water main near Howarth Park broke at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Water service was not lost, but several homes in the area along Mukilteo Boulevard may have have experienced low or no pressure and cloudy water while the work was under way to repair it.
Residents should run their water until it is clear before they use it.
The break occurred near the intersection of Ridgemont Drive and Olympic Boulevard. The repairs were completed by 11 a.m.
This is the second time this week that a main broke in Everett. A 12-inch main on Rucker Hill broke early Monday, knocking out water service to up to 25 homes.
The two breaks were not related, except that they both occurred in post-World War II-era cast iron pipes after a period of temperatures fluctuating above and below freezing, said Kathleen Baxter, a spokeswoman for Everett’s Public Works Department.
