SEATTLE — The King County sheriff’s office says deputies have arrested two men and a woman believed to be linked to car prowls and identity theft cases throughout the county.
Sgt. DB Gates said Tuesday that sheriff’s detectives and suburban Sammamish detectives have linked the trio to what is expected to be more than 30 cases in Seattle, Redmond, Mercer Island and other jurisdictions around the county, going back as far as July.
The three were arrested Thursday for investigation of identity theft and possession of stolen property.
The sheriff’s office says Sammamish detectives on Friday searched a van and found evidence linking the three suspects to car prowls and identity thefts.
On Monday, detectives served a search warrant on a storage unit belonging to one of the three and found more evidence.
Gates says officers believe the suspects would break into cars, take valuables to resell, use ATMS to withdraw cash and buy gift cards until the victims’ bank accounts were emptied.
