MARYSVILLE — Three people suspected of breaking into a Marysville home were arrested early Sunday after their car crashed into a pole and burst into flames.
The car was going too fast, missed a turn and was briefly airborne before hitting the pole, police said.
The three suspects tried to run away through a storm water pond near Lake Stevens, according to a police affidavit filed Monday in Everett District Court. Officers used police dogs and stun guns to bring them into custody.
Just after midnight Sunday, a homeowner in the 6000 block of 52nd Street NE heard someone smash a window at his home and break in, the court document said. He told police he saw someone grab a computer and hard drive before running off.
Police gave chase to a car that sped away on Highway 9. The officer saw someone in the car toss a laptop computer out the window like a Frisbee, the document said.
The driver, an Everett man, 29, later told police he didn’t want to be arrested because he had outstanding warrants, the document said. All three suspects were booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of residential burglary, second-degree theft and attempting to elude police.
