3 found dead inside a Honda at Auburn casino

AUBURN – Three men were found dead Saturday in a car parked outside the Muckleshoot Casino, police said.

Police received a call about 10:15 a.m., and when officers arrived they found three people slumped over dead in the car, Auburn Police Cdr. Bob Lee said.

He said the men were believed to be in their late teens or early 20s and were not carrying identification.

Police were working to track down the registered owner of the car, a blue four-door Honda Civic. Lee said an autopsy would be conducted either today or Monday.

Neglected farm animals seized: The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office and animal welfare officials have seized 92 neglected animals from a farm southeast of Yelm. Seized were 88 miniature horses and mules, two goats, a cow and a llama. They were being kept on about 29 acres near Clear Lake, said Lt. Brad Watkins of the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office. The woman who owned the animals has not been arrested or charged with a crime. All were examined at Dugan Equine Hospital in Roy. Many were underweight, and some were in bad shape, Marlisa Dugan said. Deputies found evidence of neglect, but no evidence of abuse, Watkins said. Hooved Animal Rescue will be caring for the animals, and all have foster homes.

Seattle

Fire that burned toddler blamed on candle: A fire that burned a toddler over 65 percent of her body earlier this month has been ruled accidental, the Seattle Police Department said. Investigators determined the source of the fire was an unattended candle in the girl’s room. Emily Woodrow, who turns 17 months old on Wednesday, underwent three surgeries to repair damage from burns that were so severe doctors initially gave her a 25 percent chance of survival. Doctors at Harborview Medical Center’s burn unit now say she has a much better chance of making a full recovery.

Olympia

Train death ruled a suicide: The death of a 48-year-old Olympia man stuck by a passenger train has been ruled a suicide, the Thurston County Coroner said Saturday. William A. Bickle had left a suicide note in his home and was seen near the train tracks before his death on Friday, according to Thurston County Coroner Judy Arnold. Autopsy results showed he died of blunt force trauma. An Amtrak train carrying 270 people headed from Portland to Seattle struck Bickle near Rich Road in east Olympia around 3 p.m. Friday, Washington State Patrol investigators said. The train was delayed several hours before continuing on to Seattle.

Idaho

Aryan Nations returns to Idaho: Leadership of the Aryan Nations is returning to northern Idaho after infighting briefly took the paramilitary hate group to Pennsylvania. Aryan Nations national director Ray Redfeairn of Dayton, Ohio, said Friday he fired propaganda minister August Kreis this week and is returning command of the white supremacy organization to Richard Butler in Hayden Lake. “That makes me happy, you bet,” the 83-year-old Aryan Nations founder said Friday. To show he was still in charge, Butler flew to Pennsylvania in April to deliver a Hitler birthday speech just days after he got out of a Coeur d’Alene hospital. Butler said Friday he was pleased with Redfeairn’s decision, and contended it was Kreis who was behind the power-grab.

Butler said Kreis was picked to handle the Aryan Nations Web site during a trial in 2000 that bankrupted the organization, but didn’t have authority to hijack the name.

Man arrested after house searched following disappearance burns: Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies on Saturday arrested a St. Helens man on charges of arson after his own house burned down earlier in the day. Barry Richard Dent, 34, was arrested in Portland and was held on $375,000 bail at the Columbia County Jail, according to a statement released by Sheriff Philip Derby. Dent has also been called a “person of interest” by police in the disappearance of his neighbor, 73-year-old Laurene Agnes McGilvra, who was last seen Tuesday night. Dent has not been charged in McGilvra’s disappearance, but deputies spent all day Friday searching his home, barn and several outbuildings on his 3-acre property. Police found blood inside and outside McGilvra’s home, which is across the street from Dent’s property, and suspect that “something violent happened there,” said Columbia County District Attorney Stephen Atchison.
