KENNEWICK — Three men accused of taking portable generators, tools and other equipment while they worked as Hanford Patrol officers on the nuclear reservation have been charged with theft.
The Tri-City Herald reports 38-year-old Adam Blair Bowen and 33-year-old Dean Austin Badeaux were charged in Benton County Superior Court and 36-year-old Alfred Wayne Smith was charged in Benton County District Court.
The Benton County sheriff’s office began investigating the thefts in January after suspicions were reported.
A spokeswoman for the security service, Deanna Smith of Mission Support Alliance, says two of the men resigned and the other was fired.
Mission Alliance is reviewing its procedures to guard against thefts. The Energy Department says it’s reviewing security clearances for employees who may have information about the thefts.
