STANWOOD — Three people were injured after the car they were in flipped over and landed on top of several parked cars Thursday evening.
The accident happened near 64th Avenue NW and 176th Place NW. Witnesses reported that there were as many as five people in the car.
Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies and firefighters from Snohomish County Fire District 14 were only able to locate three people, according to fire Capt. Christian Davis.
They were treated and transported to local hospitals, Davis said. The sheriff’s office is investigating the accident.

Meeting on sex offender: The public is invited to a meeting about a sex offender living in the 15200 block of High Bridge Road. Christopher John Tanner was convicted in 1991 of raping a 17-year-old desk clerk at a motel in Skagit County, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, during which time he declined to participate in sexual deviancy and chemical dependency treatments. While in prison, he committed 63 major infractions. Tanner, 31, is white, 6 feet 1 inch tall, 175 pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair. The sheriff’s office will hold the meeting 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Monroe School District headquarters, 200 E. Freemont St.

Fire destroys barn: A fire destroyed a small barn filled with videotapes and computer parts in the Martha Lake area. Neighbors reported the fire just before 11 p.m. Thursday in the 220 block of 176th Street SW. By the time firefighters arrived, about 40 percent of the structure had burned, according to Snohomish County Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes. The barn was stocked floor-to-ceiling with thousands of videotapes and computer parts from the homeowners’ business, Hynes said. The cause of the fire has not been determined. The loss was estimated at $150,000.
