A 19-year-old Mount Vernon man and another man were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
One person in the other car, Frederick A. Brand of Concrete, 65, died on the way to a Sedro-Woolley hospital.

The Transportation Department detoured traffic to South Skagit Highway until Highway 20 reopened at 10:45 a.m.
