MONROE — Police officers saved three puppies from a brush fire Wednesday morning in Monroe.
Firefighters responded shortly after 5 a.m. to a homeless encampment on a steep hillside in the 19900 block of Woods Creek Road. The roads were closed for a few hours as they extinguished the flames, according to a news release from Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue.
The puppies had minor injuries. A local animal control agency took them for further evaluation.
Eventually, after the fire was put out, crews found a person in the woods who had minor burns, according to the news release. Firefighters treated him at the scene and transported him to a hospital.
