ARLINGTON — Police in Arlington are investigating a five-vehicle crash that killed a 62-year-old woman Wednesday evening.
The crash was reported around 5:45 p.m. at the intersection of 188th Street NE and Smokey Point Boulevard, said Kristin Banfield, city spokeswoman. Initially, there were serious injuries reported but nobody had died.
Witnesses reported that the car driven by the woman rear-ended another vehicle and then veered into oncoming traffic, striking a third vehicle head-on, Banfield said in a news release.
That collision then pushed her car into two parked vehicles.
Arlington medics took three people, including the woman, to Cascade Valley Hospital, where she later died. The two others — women ages 23 and 50 — had minor injuries.
The Snohomish County medical examiner is expected to determine whether alcohol or drugs involved, Banfield said.
