ALGER — The Washington State Patrol says six people, including a Skagit County sheriff’s deputy, are dead and two more are wounded after multiple shootings today in Skagit County. A suspect in the shootings has surrendered.
Those wounded in the afternoon shootings include a state trooper.
Trooper Keith Leary told a news conference that the dead were found at multiple crime scenes. They include the deputy shot while responding to a call and a second person killed at that location; two construction workers found shot nearby; a third person killed at another location; and a motorist shot and killed on I-5.
A motorcyclist was shot and wounded at a gas station in the town of Alger and a state trooper was wounded in the arm as the suspect raced along I-5.
That suspect, reportedly a man known to Skagit County authorities, eventually turned himself in at the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office in Mount Vernon.
