I got kind of a funny phone call Thursday night.
An Idaho man was concerned because his wife or girlfriend started getting letters from an old friend who’s locked up at the Stafford Creek Corrections Center near Aberdeen. The inmate is serving time for crimes committed in Snohomish County about five years ago.
The inmate claimed he had been wrongly convicted for showing some kids his private parts. He wanted to set up a correspondence.
The Idaho couple was rightfully wary.
So I ran the friend’s name and found surprisingly little about his crimes online. I suggested the couple contact the Department of Corrections.
They did so and decided to cut off correspondence with the inmate right away.
They wrote me a nice email, quoted below:
“We called the corrections facility, and the guy we talked to said there was 3 life sentences and a bunch of kidnapping and raping involved … and that’s all we needed to hear!”
