EVERETT – Vandals caused about $10,000 damage to a south Everett house filled with sports uniforms, baseballs and other equipment, officials said.
“They broke everything that was glass,” said Bill Butler, president of the Northwest Christian Sports League, the group that uses the house.
The single-story house in the 2200 block of 132nd Street SE was used as a storage center for the group’s youth-oriented activities, he said.
The vandalism was discovered Friday morning.
None of the gear was taken, he said, but every pane of glass in the building was smashed from the inside out. They even broke the glass oven door, he said.
“They were abusive.”
Every piece of glass also was smashed on a school bus parked behind the building that belonged to Cedar Park Christian School, Butler said.
Last week in front of nearby Seattle Hill Elementary School, arsonists torched a school bus, causing about $2,000 damage. The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the blaze.
On Friday, Northwest Christian Sports League crews nailed up plywood boards to cover the broken windows and worked to clean up the property, Butler said.
Asked whether the group will replace the windows, he said he wasn’t sure.
“I don’t know,” Butler said. “We don’t have insurance for this kind of thing.”
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
