USS Momsen crew members recently spent several days exploring Brunei and engaging in recreational activities and community relations projects.

During the port visit, Momsen sailors contributed toys, books and other learning materials to a local school. They also provided ship tours to Royal Brunei Navy personnel, 150 Brunei residents and the U.S. ambassador to Brunei. In addition, Momsen sailors participated in a softball game sponsored by the local Brunei softball team, the Gunners. The Momsen, an Arleigh Burke-Class guided-missile destroyer, is based in Everett and currently is deployed as part of the Abraham Lincoln Strike Group’s work in the U.S. 5th Fleet area.

Coast Guard Seaman Blake Caraballo has graduated from basic military training at Cape May in New Jersey. He is the son of John and Tami Caraballo of Snohomish and is a 2007 graduate of Snohomish High School. He currently is stationed aboard Coast Guard Cutter Campbell in Kittery, Maine.

Air Force Airman Thomas J. Haulman has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Shane Haulman of Puyallup and Eve Hays of Bothell.

Army National Guard Pfc. Chris R. Seets has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Seets is the son of David Seets of Snohomish and Lori Ansohn of Southlake, Texas.

Air Force Airman Sara M. Elliott has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Elliott earned distinction as an honor graduate. She is the daughter of Jill Clark of Orangevale, Calif., and granddaughter of Joan Henry of Everett. The airman is a 2005 graduate of Everett High School.
