Air Force Airman Matthew W. Ruscha has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Martin Ruscha of Mukilteo and Lisa Dawson of Lynnwood. Ruscha is a 2006 graduate of Mariner High School.

Navy Seaman Alex Olney graduated last year from basic training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Illinois. He then studied sonar electronics at the Navy’s submarine training school at Groton, Conn. He is now assigned to service aboard a submarine based at the Bangor Navy base. Olney, son of Margy and Peter Olney of Mill Creek, is a 2004 graduate of Cascade High School.

Army Pvt. Anthony C. Vanderberg has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Vanderberg is the son of Janet Gore of Mukilteo and grandson of Georgina Kestle of Arlington.

Army Pfc. Tricia M. Schindler has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. She is the niece of Nancy Lund of Bothell and daughter of Sherry Hamill of Everett. Schindler is a 2006 graduate of Everett High School.

Army Pvt. Oscar L. Bajado has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Alfonso Bajado of Elk Grove, Calif., and nephew of Rose Christman of Marysville.

Marine Corps Cpl. Michael F. Lechnar, Jr., son of Linda and Michael Lechnar of Mukilteo, recently received a certificate of commendation while serving as a funeral detail member assigned to Security Battalion, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif. Lechnar is a 2002 graduate of Kamiak High School. He joined the Marine Corps in October 2004.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Ashley N. Young, daughter of Valerie and Brian Young of Everett, was recently promoted to her current rank upon graduation from recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Young received the early promotion for outstanding performance during all phases of the training cycle. Young is a 2006 graduate of Kamiak High School.

Marine Corps Reserve Pvt. Matthew D. Weed, son of Kevin Weed of Snohomish, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Calif.

Marine Corps 2nd Lt. William R. Sullivan, son of Mary and William Sullivan of Everett, recently graduated from the Combat Engineer Officer Course. Sullivan is a 2002 graduate of Lake Stevens High School. He joined the Marine Corps in May 2006 after graduated with a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Notre Dame.

Marine Corps Pfc. Adam L. Jennings, son of Paula and Lawrence Jennings of Everett, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Calif.

Marine Corps Pvt. Austin L. Carter, son of Cherie and Steven Carter of Langley, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Calif.

Navy Ensign Sean M. Mahoney, son of Margaret and Richard Koch of Oak Harbor, recently received his commission as a naval officer after completing Officer Candidate School at Naval Aviation Schools Command, Pensacola, Fla. Mahoney is a 1994 graduate of Oak Harbor High School and a 1998 graduate of the University of Washington. He joined the Navy in April 2000.

Marine Corps Cpl. Christopher J. Bryant, son of Katherine VanderWerfhorst of Oak Harbor, recently was promoted to his current rank while serving with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 36, Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan. Bryant was promoted based on sustained superior job performance and proficiency in his designated specialty.

Navy Seaman Recruit Eugeniy P. Klatt, a 2006 graduate of Kamiak High School in Mukilteo, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Navy Seaman Recruit Derrick L. Tennell, son of Nita and Billy Tennell of Lynnwood, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Tennell is a 2006 graduate of Mountlake Terrace High School.

Marine Corps Pfc. Jesse G. Conn, son of Tommy and Steven Conn of Snohomish, recently graduated from the Marine Corps Basic Combat Engineer Course at Marine Corps Engineer School, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N. C. Conn is a 2001 high school graduate in Snohomish. He joined the Marine Corps in June 2006.

Army Pvt. Alex B. Craig has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Bryan Craig of Oak Harbor and a 2005 graduate of Coupeville High School.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Robert J. Street has arrived for duty at Whiteman Air Force Base, Knob Noster, Mo. Street, a B-2 Aircraft aerospace maintenance apprentice is assigned to the 509th Maintenance Squadron. He is the son of Teresa Soulier of Bothell and a 2006 graduate of Bothell High School.
