Air Force 2nd Lt. Audra K. Mendelsohn has enrolled in the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., as a medical student.
She will be trained to serve as a physician in the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Public Health Service to meet the wartime and peacetime medical needs of the U.S. armed forces, at home and abroad.
She is the daughter of Jeffrey and Laureen Mendelsohn of Oak Harbor. Mendelsohn graduated in 2001 from Oak Harbor High School, earned an associate’s degree in 2002 from Skagit Valley College and graduated in 2005 from the University of Washington.
Army Sgt. 1st Class Donald P. McClure is now serving in Iraq. McClure is a platoon sergeant with 12 years of military service. He is the son of Pat and Colleen McClure of Snohomish.
Army National Guard Pvt. Matthew E. Anderson has graduated from the power-generation equipment repairer advanced individual training course at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen, Md. He is the son of Nichole Anderson of Marysville.
Army Reserve Pvt. Thomas Upshaw has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He is the son of Pattie Myers of Lynnwood.
Army Reserve Pvt. Tyler W. Maxwell has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Wes and Jill Maxwell of Bothell.
Army Reserve Pvt. James W. Carter has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He is the son of James and Jeannette Carter of Everett.
