Marine Corps Col. James A. Kessler has been nominated for appointment to the grade of brigadier general. Kessler is serving as executive assistant to the deputy commandant for Installations and Logistics, Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps, Washington, D.C. Kessler, a 1976 graduate of Mountlake Terrace High School, is the son of Nancy Thurmond of Everett.
Air Force Airman Joseph A. Needham has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He is the son of Lina Needham of Marysville. The airman is a 2005 graduate of Marysville Alternative High School.
Air Force Airman Jeremy A. Cain has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. Cain is the son of Suzanne Cain of Lake Stevens. The airman is a 2003 graduate of Lake Stevens High School.
Army Sgt. Jennifer H. Rogge has been decorated with the Army Commendation Medal. Rogge, a senior satellite systems operator, is assigned to the 293rd Signal Co., Camp Carroll, Waegwan, South Korea. She is the daughter of Daniel Kimzey of Lynnwood and Susan Grewe of Troy, Mo.
Army 2nd Lt. Sean D. Force has graduated from the Infantry Officer Basic Course at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga. Force is the son of Kathleen Force of Brier. He received a bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y., in 2005.
Marine Corps Pvt. Marc A. Villanueva, the son of Marilou and Cresencio Villanueva of Marysville, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego.
