Air Force Airman Adrienne M. Hodges has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Hodges is the stepdaughter of Leo Troha of Oak Harbor and a 2004 graduate of Oak Harbor High School.

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class John S. Kermgard, son of Gregory Kermgard of Snohomish, completed Maritime Security Operations while on a scheduled deployment in support of the Global War on Terrorism while assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge, homeported in Norfolk, Va.

Marine Corps Pfc. Londo M. Carver, son of Cathy and Charles Carver of Everett, recently completed the Personnel Clerk Course at Personnel Administration School, Marine Corps Service Support Schools, Camp Lejeune, N.C. Carver is a 2002 graduate of Aces High School in Everett.

Navy Hospitalman Maria P. Ayala, a 2002 graduate of Oak Harbor High School, returned from a three-month summer underway period while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk, forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan.

Navy Airman Dimas B. Prasetya, a 2002 graduate of Stanwood High School, returned from a three-month summer underway period while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk, forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan.

Marine Corps Pvt. Nathan D. Oquist, son of Beth Oquist of Bothell, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego.

Navy Seaman Recruit Julius C. Lagajeno, son of Cesar Lagajeno of Everett and Solly Lagajeno of National City, Calif., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Navy Seaman Apprentice David M. Martin, daughter of Terri and Carl Martin of Oak Harbor, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Masters, a 1995 graduate of Granite Falls High School, made a port visit to Darwin, Australia, during a deployment while assigned to the guided-missile cruiser USS Chosin, homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Masters attended a commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the allied victory in the Pacific during World War II.

Coast Guard Seaman Apprentice John F. Weinold, son of Robin M. Holder of Everett and John Weinold of San Diego, recently graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N.J.

Navy Midshipman Matthew E. Bezold, son of retired Navy Lt. Cmdr. Larry and Loretta Bezold of Oak Harbor, recently took part in summer training at sea. Bezold, a Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps student, served with Submarine Squadron 11, San Diego.

Air Force Cadet Katherine E. Taylor has completed Basic Cadet Training and earned the rank of cadet fourth class at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo. She is the daughter of Paul and Sheree Taylor of Marysville. Taylor is a 2005 graduate of Archbishop Murphy High School.

Liam T. Roddy, son of Donna and Donald Roddy of Oak Harbor, recently participated in the U.S. Naval Academy’s weeklong summer seminar program in Annapolis, Md. Roddy attends Oak Harbor High School.

Army Staff Sgt. Joshua D. Hollers has been awarded the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and the National Defense Service Medal for supporting the missions of Operations Enduring and/or Iraqi Freedom in Afghanistan and Iraq. The soldier recently returned to Fort Drum, Watertown, N.Y. The sergeant is a senior intelligence analyst with 10 years of military service. He is the son of Lou and Patty Hollers of Everett.

Operation Homefront Washington

The organization needs men’s clothes (T-shirts, jeans, sweatpants and sweatshirts) and towels for wounded soldiers. They can be used, but need to be in good condition. New socks and new boxer shorts also are needed.

Operation Baby Love needs homemade quilts, blankets and newborn items. Visit the organization’s Web site for dropoff locations or call for pickup.

Recycling cell phones, ink cartridges, PDAs and computers also is encouraged.
