Coast Guard Reserve Seaman Jordan M. Gere recently graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N.J. Gere is a 2004 graduate of Snohomish High School.
Army National Guard Pvt. Jacob C. Miller has graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Denice and Harrison Miller of Snohomish. Miller is a 2003 graduate of Snohomish High School.
Navy Seaman Recruit Sarah J. Marsh recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. She is the daughter of Michelle and Bobby Marsh of Lake Stevens. Marsh is a 2004 graduate of Lake Stevens High School.
Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Lee S. Wilson and Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Jonathan D. Masters completed an anti-submarine warfare exercise off the coast of Hawaii during a scheduled deployment while assigned to the guided-missile cruiser USS Chosin, homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
Wilson and Masters, along with the sailors and Marines of Expeditionary Strike Group One, conducted the ASW exercise with the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force. The training was an opportunity to strengthen the cooperation between the two navies while improving ASW capabilities.
Wilson, a 2001 graduate of Everett High School, joined the Navy in August 2001. He is the son of Gina and Randall Wilson of Everett.
Masters, a 1995 graduate of Granite Falls High School, joined the Navy in March 2000.
Navy Reserve Airman Joseph R. Iglesias recently reported for duty with Naval Air Reserve Whidbey Island, Oak Harbor.
Iglesias, a 2005 graduate of Marysville-Pilchuck High School, joined the Navy Reserve in June 2005. He is the son of Armanda Iglesias of Marysville and Roberto Iglesias of Marysville.
Navy Seaman Apprentice William F. Haag, son of Gerri and Paul Haag of Oak Harbor, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
Haag is a 2004 graduate of Oak Harbor High School.
Motorcycle ride will aid Operation Homefront
The Realtor Ride For Freedom, a benefit motorcycle rally, runs Saturday, and the registration fee will benefit the Washington chapter of Operation Homefront, which has several services benefiting the families and troops at McChord Air Force Base and Fort Lewis.
