Marine Corps Maj. Duncan W. Miller was recently promoted to his current rank while stationed with the Marine Corps in Pensacola, Florida.

He has previously served at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va., Iwakuni Marine Corps Air Station, Japan, Seoul, Korea, and Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Miller is a 1989 graduate of Snohomish High School, where he was in the Marine Corps Junior ROTC unit. He is the son of Jim and Edie Miller of Phoenix, Ariz.

Marine Corps Pvt. David J. Reedy recently graduated from basic training at Marine Corp Recruit Depot, San Diego, Calif.

Reedy is the son of Karen Reedy of Mill Creek. Reedy attended school in the Mukilteo School District before graduating from Fenster School in Arizona.

Army National Guard Spec. Shawn R. Towns is serving a one-year tour in Iraq with the 81st Armor Brigade. Towns is the son of Joyce Towns of Lake Stevens. He is a graduate of Lake Stevens High School.

Navy Petty Officer 1st Class LaRae Clemente has retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of military service.

Prior to retiring, Clemente served as an administrative chief at Fort Lewis. She is the daughter of Roy McCutcheon of Angles Camp, Calif., and her husband, Tony, is the son of Art and Margie Clemente of Lynnwood.

Patrick J Sherritt has graduated from basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He is the son of Phil and Sharon Sherritt of Marysville. The sailor is a 2003 graduate from Marysville-Pilchuck High School.

Marine Lance Cpl. Taylor R. Pesce has been deployed to Iraq.

Pesce, a 2003 graduate of Lake Stevens High School, joined the Marines in August 2003. He is a member of 1st Platoon, Charlie Co., 3rd Light Armor Reconnaissance Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment out of Twentynine Palms, Calif. He is the husband of Kayla Pesce and son of Eric Pesce of Everett and Monica Pesce of Lake Stevens.

Army Pfc. Shelby N. Babcock-Marchesano has graduated from the unit supply specialist training course at Fort Lee, Petersburg, Va.

The soldier was trained to receive, inspect, segregate, store, inventory, issue supplies and equipment. Babcock-Marchesano is the daughter of Jewel and Stan Babcock of Lynnwood. She is a 1993 graduate of Meadowdale Senior High School.

Army Pvt. Desiree L. Garcia has graduated from the power-generation equipment repairer training course at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen, Md.

Garcia was trained to repair and overhaul internal combustion engines, precise power generation sets and other associated equipment. She is the granddaughter of Edith Slack of Lynnwood. Garcia is a 2003 graduate of Lynnwood High School.

Brendan M. Harkess has graduated from the Army ROTC Leader’s Training Course at Fort Knox, Ky. The cadet is a student at New Mexico Military Institute, Roswell, N.M. and is the son of Brian and Judith Harkess of Lynnwood. He is a 2004 graduate of Lynnwood High School.

Army Pvt. Angela F. Ramos has graduated from the automated logistical specialist training course at the U.S. Army Quartermaster Center and School, Fort Lee, Petersburg, Va.

The course is designed to train soldiers to establish and maintain stock records and other documents. Her husband, Luis, is the son of James and Alma Lenhart of Everett.

Anthony J. Perez has entered basic cadet training at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo. He is a 2003 graduate of Snohomish High School.

Air Force Airman Michael W. Hodgen has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Roger Hodgen of Everett.

Army Reserve Pvt. Allan C. Hall has graduated from basic training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Hall is the son of Dale and Mary Hall of Lake Stevens. The soldier is a 2003 graduate of Granite Falls High School.

Air Force Airman Adam J. Purvis has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Purvis is the son of Gary and JoAnne Purvis of Everett and graduated in 2001 from Mariner High School.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Tyler J. Harrington has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Susan Harrington of Mountlake Terrace. Harrington is a 2001 graduate of Shorewood High School.
