Navy Airman Shawnn A. Vincent has received a letter of commendation from Cmdr. Greg Thomas, commanding officer of Prowler squadron VAQ-133, for outstanding performance as a plane captain from February to March 2004. The letter said Vincent "consistently performed his demanding duties in an exemplary and highly professional matter" while he served at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev.

The commander wrote that Vincent played a key role in the completion of 29 missions during a major multinational training exercise. Vincent, a 2002 graduate of Darrington High School, is the son of Dennis and Candy Vincent of Darrington.

Marine Corps Pfc. Michael R. Turnbull, son of Dawn Turnbull of Stanwood and Todd Turnbull of Gold Bar, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Calif. Turnbull is a 2003 graduate of Stanwood High School.

Dustin J. Cockrum has joined the Army under the delayed entry program. Cockrum will report to Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. for basic training in August. He is the son of Cammara Hooker of Lynnwood.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Jamie A. Storm has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She is the daughter of Kristene Heath of Everett, and a 2002 graduate of Henry M. Jackson High School.

Army Spec. Kyle C. Hays has returned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vicenza, Italy, after completing a deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with additional participation in Operation Northern Delay, the largest airborne assault since World War II. Hays also has been decorated with the Army Commendation Medal, which is awarded to individuals who have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism, meritorious achievement or meritorious service. The newly promoted Hays is a radio transmission operator with one year of military service. He is the son of Kerry Hays of Bothell.

Army Pvt. Danielle D. Belanger has arrived at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen, Md., to complete the wheeled vehicle repairer training course. Belanger is the daughter of Royce E. Johannes of Lake Stevens. She is a 2002 graduate of Scriber Lake High School in Lynnwood.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Tashia M. Weaver has arrived for duty at Minot Air Force Base, N.D. Weaver is a security forces apprentice assigned to the 791st Missile Security Forces Squadron. She is the daughter of Stacey Weaver of Lake Stevens and a 2003 graduate of Lake Stevens High School.
