Air Force Lt. Col. Mark S. Spillman has assumed command of the 36th Electronic Warfare Squadron, Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. Spillman graduated from Mariner High School in 1985, and received a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from the University of Washington in 1989. He graduated with a master’s degree in aeronautical engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology in 1994, and graduated first in his class, earning the Mervin E. Gross Award, the school’s highest honor. He is the son of Jay and Shirley Spillman of Everett.
Air Force Airman Ryan L. Kruse has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Crystal Kruse of Everett. Kruse is a 2003 graduate of Mariner High School.
Army Spec. Christine L. Thompson has been named as the 67th Signal Battalion’s "soldier of the quarter" at Fort Gordon, Augusta, Ga. She was selected because of her exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities and other accomplishments. Thompson is a single switch operator-maintainer with two years of military service. She is the daughter of Richard Thompson of Oak Harbor. She is a 2000 graduate of Oak Harbor High School.
Army National Guard Pfc. Eric W. Swenson has graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Swenson graduated in 1995 from Meadowdale High School in Lynnwood, and received a bachelor’s degree in 1999 from the National Education Center-Spartan School of Aeronautics, Tulsa, Okla.
Army Pvt. Mickey J. Myers has graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Lesli Myers of Oak Harbor.
Jessica A. Somerville has been promoted to the rank of sergeant in the Army. Somerville is a common ground station operator assigned to the 102nd Military Intelligence Battalion, Camp Red Cloud, Uijong-Bu, South Korea. She has four years of military service. She is the daughter of Richard Somerville of Everett.
