OAK HARBOR — After seven months aboard the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, Electronic Attack Squadron 134, “the Garudas,” returned home to Whidbey Island Naval Air Station last week following its first carried-based deployment in more than 16 years. The Prowler squadron of 180 officers and enlisted members left Whidbey Island in November.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Taylor S. Blodgett graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Teresa Chevalier of Lynnwood. Blodgett graduated in 2009 from Lynnwood High School and completed an associate’s degree in 2010 from Edmonds Community College.
Air Force Airman Daniel A. Park graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Phil Park of Everett, and a 2009 graduate of Mariner High School.
Air Force Airman Cody A. Hagen graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Wes Hagen of Snohomish, and a 2010 graduate of Monroe High School.
Navy Seaman Recruit Hans Frymire from Monroe has completed basic training at U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He is in Pensacola, Fla., for air rescue and flight training. A 2010 graduate of Sultan High School, he is the son of Michael and Rebecca Frymire of Monroe. Frymire joins his brothers in the military: Army Sgt. Derek Frymire and Navy Seaman Apprentice John Frymire, who is at Naval Base Kitsap.
Navy Seaman Recruit Joshua T. DeJong, son of Karen DeJong of Everett and Randal DeJong of Snohomish, has completed basic training at the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. DeJong is a 2010 graduate of Henry M. Jackson High School.
Navy Seaman Apprentice Brittany A. Harpe, daughter of Kimberly and Robert Harpe of Coupeville, was promoted to her current rank upon graduation from recruit training with Nuclear Power Training Unit, Ballston Spa, N.Y. Harpe received the early promotion for outstanding performance during all phases of the training cycle. Harpe is a 2009 graduate of Coupeville High School.
