Marine Corps Sgt. Kyle Mills has arrived for duty at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, to serve with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit in preparation for future deployments. Mills is a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense specialist with four years of military service. The sergeant is

the son of David and Cheryl Mills of Lake Stevens and grandson of Barbara Lappala of Camas. He is married to Joy Parker Mills. In 2004, Mills graduated from Grace Academy in Marysville, and received an associate degree in 2006 from Edmonds Community College.

Air Force Airman Brittany Burger graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She is the daughter of Michelle and Earl Burger of Oak Harbor, and is a 2010 graduate of Oak Harbor High School.

Air Force Airman Daniel Wichers graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Wichers earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of David and JoAnn Wichers of Oak Harbor. The airman graduated in 2001 from Oak Harbor High School and received a bachelor’s degree in 2006 from Western Washington University.

Army Reserve Pvt. Amber Geer has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. She is the daughter of Barbara Geer of Snohomish, and graduated in 2010 from Glacier Peak High School.

Army Pvt. Raffy Nhiel Gagap has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Gagap graduated in 2004 from Mountlake Terrace High School.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Reginald Miguel, son of Nida Hermoso and Regidor Miguel, both of Everett, was recently promoted to his current rank upon graduation from recruit training at Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Miguel is a 2009 graduate of Cascade High School.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Ryan McPeake, son of Karen French and David McPeake, both of Marysville, was promoted to his current rank upon graduation from recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. McPeake received the early promotion for outstanding performance during all phases of the training cycle. McPeake is a 2010 graduate of Marysville-Pilchuck High School.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Shazhard Nadat, a 2010 graduate of Mariner High School, recently completed basic training with honors at U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Navy Seaman Lorenzo Williams, son of Linda and stepson of Anthony Upchurch of Marysville, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Williams is a 2010 graduate of Marysville-Pilchuck High School.
