Ribbon-cutting
Naval Station Everett’s new high-tech training facility, the Fleet Region Readiness Center, is set to open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Navy leadership will join Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., Rep. Rick Larsen, D-Wash., and Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson to commemorate the occasion.
The facility is a milestone in the Naval Station’s efforts to provide on-base training to sailors based in Everett. Previously, sailors fulfilled training requirements by traveling to San Diego, Calif., or Norfolk, Va.
The new facility allows sailors to remain at home with their families. It also saves travel costs for the Navy.
