Air Force Airman David P. Carroll graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Steve Carroll of Tacoma and brother of Jon Carroll of Everett. Carroll is a 2007 graduate of Henry M. Jackson High School.

Air Force Airman Allen M. White graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Aundrea White of Marysville, and is a 2009 graduate of Marysville-Pilchuck High School.

Air Force Airman Korey D. Fink graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Sandra Kilgore of Turlock, Calif., and Michael Sanderson of Everett.

Navy Fireman David A. Martinez, son of Martha and Jose Martinez of Lake Stevens, is assigned to San Diego-based, Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan, which recently received the Battle Efficiency Ribbon given to the most battle-ready carrier in the Pacific fleet. Martinez is a 2004 graduate of Lake Stevens High School. He joined the Navy in 2009.

Navy Reserve Seaman Steven R. Elf, son of Lori and Steve Elf of Bothell, recently completed basic training at U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Navy Seaman Johnathan A. Kuehn, son of James Kuehn of Everett, is assigned to San Diego-based, Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan, which recently received the Battle Efficiency Ribbon given to the most battle-ready carrier in the Pacific fleet. Kuehn is a 2007 graduate of Everett High School. He joined the Navy in May 2008.

Navy Seaman Recruit Stormee S. Newcombe, son of Jodi and Joey Brown of Arlington, recently completed basic training at U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Newcombe is a 2009 graduate of Darrington High School.

Army Sgt. Bradley R. Brown has returned to Fort Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska, after serving in Afghanistan for a year. The soldier is one of 3,500 members of the 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division stationed at Fort Richardson. Brown, a medical treatment noncommissioned officer has four years of military service. He is the son of Jerry Brown of south Snohomish County.

Army Reserve Lt. Col. Carl F. Kurfess has returned home after serving in Iraq. Kurfess, a civil affairs officer, is a member of the 364th Civil Affairs Brigade, based in Portland, Ore. He has 26 years of military service. He is the son of Mary Kurfess of Edmonds. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 1983 from Seattle University.

Army Reserve Pvt. Alexander R. Vancour has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Ray and Cherry Vancour of Snohomish, and is a 2006 graduate of Henry M. Jackson High School.

Army Pvt. Derrick M. Dasalla has graduated from the multiple launch rocket system crewmember advanced individual training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Dasalla is the son of Randy Dasalla of Bothell and Lynda Morley of Tacoma. The private is a 2007 graduate of Jackson High School.

Army Spc. Kody M. Gurnett has returned to Fort Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska, after serving in Afghanistan for a year. Gurnett is a long range marksman assigned to Company A, 3rd Battalion, 509th Airborne Infantry. He has served in the military for six years. He is the son of Ken and Karen Gurnett of Edmonds, and is a 2004 graduate of Kamiak High School.

Army Staff Sgt. Tyler G. Fosheim has returned to Fort Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska, after serving in Afghanistan for a year. Fosheim, a platoon sergeant, is assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment, and has eight years of military service. He is the son of Gene Fosheim and Kelcey Fosheim, both of Everett. The sergeant is a 2000 graduate of Cascade High School.

Army Staff Sgt. Luke A. Bradshaw has returned to Fort Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska, after being deployed to Afghanistan for a year. Bradshaw, a sniper squad leader, has more than five years of military service. He is the son of Brad Bradshaw of Everett and Deb Wheeler of Cheney. His wife is Mary Varner Bradshaw. The sergeant is a 2004 graduate of Cascade High School.
