Air Force Airman Stephen L. Verducci recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Larry and Dennise Verducci of Arlington and a 2008 graduate of Arlington High School.

Patricia A. Leonard of Lynnwood recently retired after 36 years of honorable service in the U.S. Army, which included active- and reserve-duty military service and federal civil service.
Prior to retiring, Leonard was director of the Customer Service Center, 70th Regional Readiness Command at Fort Lawton, Seattle.
In this position, she provided personnel services for more than 65,000 military customers, which included dealing with military identification cards, post vehicle registration, notary services, medical information, and military benefits and entitlements.
Leonard joined the Women’s Army Corps in March 1973 and later transferred to the Adjutant General Corps, serving two years on active duty as a training officer during the Vietnam War. She joined the Army Reserve in 1975.
In 1978, Leonard served as a mobilization planning officer, chemical officer, chief of personnel branch, history detachment commander and public affairs officer.
She began her federal civil service career as a military technician and chief of the officer records at the 6211th Army Garrison, San Francisco, Calif. In 1988, she transferred to the 124th Army Reserve Command in Seattle, where she served as a branch chief, a military technician and a major. Maj. Leonard served on active duty during Operation Desert Storm and worked with Army Reserve units throughout California and Washington to prepare soldiers for deployment to Iraq.
In 1990, she accepted an active guard-reserve position as the personnel administration adjutant with the 174th Corps Support Group at Fort Lawton.
Some of her military decorations and civilian service awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, six Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, four Army Reserve Components Achievement Medals, the National Defense Service Medal with bronze star, two Armed Forces Reserve Medals, two Commanders Award for Civilian Service, Civilian Humanitarian Service Medal and the Seattle Federal Executive Broad Public Service Recognition Award.
Leonard graduated in 1967 from St. Ursula Academy and earned a bachelor’s degree from Edgecliff College, both schools in Cincinnati, Ohio.
