Marine Corps Chief Warrant Officer Johnny Cort was promoted to his current rank Aug. 1. He is based at Camp LeJeune, N.C. Cort attended Mariner and ACES high schools. He is the son of Muriel Cort of Edmonds and William Cort of Everett.
Chief Petty Officer Burton T. Helmbolt, Jr., a boatswain’
s mate at the Coast Guard Afloat Training Group in Everett, has retired. A native of Renton, the award-winning officer served for 32 years, including on the Coast Guard Cutter Henry Blake based in Everett.
Army National Guard Pfc. Clinton W. Oakland has graduated from basic infantry training
at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Oakland is the son of Don Oakland of Bothell and a 2000 graduate of Snohomish County Christian High School in Mountlake Terrace and a 2010 graduate of Edmonds Community College.
Marine Corps Pvt. Taylor M. Jones, son of Amanda Jones of Everett and Casey Jones of Snohomish, recently graduated from the basic combat engineer course at the Marine Corps Engineer School, Camp Lejeune, N. C. Jones is a 2010 graduate of Everett High School. He joined the Marine Corps in September 2010.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Richard R. Fardy graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Fardy earned distinction as an honor graduate. He graduated in 2003 from Oak Harbor High School.
Army Pvt. Tyler N. Vaders has graduated from basic infantry and advanced individual training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Vaders is the son of Matthew Vaders of Snohomish and Teresa Vaders of Lake Stevens. He is a 2009 graduate of Snohomish High School.
Army Pfc. Rein K. Frankie has graduated from basic infantry and advanced individual training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Frankie is the son of Randy Frankie of Marysville and Heidy Ryan of Lynnwood. He is a 2007 graduate of Scriber Lake High School, Lynnwood.
Navy Seaman Justin J. Greathouse, son of Jackie Smith of Snohomish and James Greathouse of Aberdeen, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Greathouse is a 2006 graduate of Auburn Senior High School.
Navy Seaman Richard L. Heard, Jr., a 2010 graduate of Everett High School, was promoted to his current rank upon graduation from recruit training at U.S. Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Heard received the early promotion for outstanding performance during all phases of the training cycle.
