SEATTLE — The supply of electricity in the Northwest should remain adequate this spring and summer despite unusually low runoff in the Columbia River basin.
That’s according to an analysis by the Northwest Power and Conservation Council.
Council chairman Bruce Measure said low flows will reduce the amount of power from hydroelectric dams to below normal. But he said power available from several sources will be enough to meet demand this year.
The council, however, said Wednesday that low flows will make it more difficult for juvenile salmon and steelhead to migrate.
