WASHINGTON — Washington state airports will receive almost $3.8 million to cover some of their security costs since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, U.S. Sen. Patty Murray said Thursday.
"This funding will be particularly helpful to our smaller airport communities. Without this assistance, local budgets would bear this truly federal responsibility," said Murray, D-Wash.
The money comes from a $175 million pool approved in a defense emergency spending bill in December. The Federal Aviation Administration planned to formally announce the grants on Friday.
