GRANITE FALLS — A 24-year-old Alaska man drowned Sunday while kayaking on the South Fork Stillaguamish River east of Granite Falls, according to police.
Crews were unable to retrieve the body on Sunday. Recovery efforts were expected to continue after dawn Monday.
The incident was reported about 2:40 p.m. in the Sand Hill area near the 28300 block of the Mountain Loop Highway, Snohomish County sheriff’s Lt. Kathi Lang said.
The man’s name was not immediately made public.
