ARLINGTON — A Granite Falls fire district ambulance crashed in Arlington on Friday with a patient onboard. An investigation is ongoing, officials said Monday.
Two part-time Granite Falls firefighters were taking a woman to Cascade Valley Hospital after she suffered a minor medical problem, Fire Chief Jim Haverfield said. The ambulance went off the road into a ditch filled with water and also struck a group of trees. No other vehicles were involved.
The woman was not hurt in the crash. The firefighters had minor injuries, including soreness, Haverfield said.
It happened about noon Friday along Highway 9, just north of the 172nd Street NE roundabout.
The ambulance was stuck in the ditch, so the Arlington Fire Department transported the firefighters and the woman to the hospital for evaluations, Haverfield said.
The Arlington officer who is investigating the crash has not finished the report, Police Chief Jonathan Ventura said. Impairment was not suspected as a factor, he said.
The Granite Falls fire department also plans to conduct an internal review of what happened, Haverfield said. He is collecting statements and awaiting the police report.
