MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — A pickup truck crashed into a Mountlake Terrace ambulance just after 11 a.m. today.
One paramedic was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and the patient inside the ambulance also was taken to the hospital, said Leslie Hynes, a spokesman for Snohomish County Fire District 1.
The medic vehicle was westbound on 220th Street SW when it reportedly was struck by a pickup truck exiting I-5. The paramedics were transporting a woman who was having chest pains to Stevens Hospital, Hynes said. The woman was stable prior to the crash and the paramedics didn’t have the lights or siren activated on the ambulance, Hynes said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Traffic at the 220th Street SW exit is backed up because of the collision.
