FINLEY — An Amtrak passenger train struck and killed a 17-year-old boy while he was trying to cross a railroad track in Finley, southeast of Kennewick.
Benton County sheriff’s deputies say the train bound from Portland, Ore., to Chicago struck the boy Saturday night at Bowles Road west of Highway 397.
The boy died at the scene. Authorities did not identify him or release any information about another male who was trying to cross the tracks with him.
A Tri-Cities TV station reported the train, carrying 100 passengers, stopped for about three hours then continued to Chicago.
