Interested in giving your children a real life history lesson?
The Imagine Children’s Museum, located 1502 Wall St., is hosting members of the Northwest chapter of the Gamewardens along with a U.S. Navy Patrol River Boat until around 3 p.m. today (Friday). Vietnam veterans plan to be on hand to talk with children about their service and the boat.
The riverboat and others like it navigated the narrow rivers and channels of the Mekong Delta in Vietnam. Those in the “Brown Water Navy” would patrol rivers checking for traffic and contraband. It was a dangerous and often deadly job.
Sgt. Bob Brower is one of those veterans who plans to be on hand. He told me, “That boat, it’s a real piece of history.”
