MARYSVILLE — A brush fire in Marysville caused an eight-mile backup Tuesday afternoon along I-5.
Two northbound lanes were blocked at one point as firefighters from Marysville, Arlington, Getchell and Tulalip Bay battled the blaze.
It was too soon to know the cause, said Tom Maloney, fire marshal for the Marysville Fire District.
The fire was reported north of the 116th Street interchange, Washington State Patrol trooper Mark Francis said.
The report came in shortly before 3 p.m. and was believed to be contained by about 4 p.m., Maloney said.
Brush fires have slowed traffic in recent weeks in Snohomish County.
Arson is blamed for a rash of brush fires that stretched from Dagmars Marina in north Everett to Skagit County along I-5 June 30. It tied up traffic for miles.
