OLYMPIA, Wash. — An anti-religion sign put up by an atheist group in the state Capitol Rotunda may have been found in Seattle, hours after it went missing from Olympia.
Washington State Patrol Sgt. Ted DeHart says the agency is working to confirm the reports that the sign was turned in to a Seattle radio station Friday morning, hours.
A receptionist at radio station KMPS says a man dropped off the sign around 10 a.m. and asked her to give it to show host Ichabod Caine. She says the man did not say how he came by it before he left.
The sign was put up in the rotunda by the Freedom From Religion Foundation. It says, in part, that “religion is but myth and superstition.” The Capitol also has a Christian Nativity scene and a Christmas tree.
