WASHINGTON — The latest Associated Press-GfK poll shows President Barack Obama’s approval rating has slipped to a new low after his victory on health care, despite signs of economic revival.
The poll says 49 percent of people now approve of the job Obama is doing — and only 44 percent like how he has handled health care and the economy. His overall approval rating is down from 53 percent last month.
The numbers are worsening for congressional Democrats, too.
For the first time this year, about as many Americans approve of congressional Republicans as they do Democrats, 38 percent to 41 percent. Neither has an edge when it comes to the party voters want controlling Congress.
