Everett woman joins Peace Corps
Diana Morton of Everett has accepted a two-year assignment with the Peace Corps to serve as a social work volunteer in Samoa.
A 1961 graduate of Everett High School, Morton has a master’s degree in social work from San Diego State University.
She worked with mental health and substance abuse programs in Southern California for 17 years before returning to Everett.
For the past five years, she has worked for King County’s Auburn Public Health Center as a social worker in maternity support services.
Morton, who leaves for training Oct. 12, will help train local nurses and assist psychiatrists in dealing with mental health patients or provide counseling to local youths and their parents.
