Rotary volunteers lend hand at food bank
There’s sustenance available at the Volunteers of America Food Bank on Broadway in Everett. But it doesn’t reach those in need until it’s packaged and prepared.
That was the job Jan. 17, when 11 Rotary volunteers, including four new club members, met to separate and bag 14 cases of potatoes, four cases of rice and one case of beans.
This was the latest of several Rotary initiatives to help with the VOA’s food delivery.
The Rotary Club of Everett is one of three Rotary clubs in the city.
In 2014 the Rotary Club of Everett provided more than $138,000 in scholarships to students from the Everett area.
Club members represent a broad spectrum of business, governmental, charitable and public service occupations and support many service projects in the Everett community and around the world.
The club meets at noon every Tuesday at the Legion Golf and Country Club.
