Pokémon player named Regional Champion
After a weekend of head-to-head Pokémon video game battles, Conan Thompson, of Bothell, was named Pokémon Winter Regional Champion at the 2015 Pokémon Winter Regional Championships, held Feb. 14-15 in Portland, Oregon. Thompson is among only five Masters Division Winter Regional video game champions from across North America to earn the title. Along with the title, Thompson also earned points that count toward a potential invite to 2015 Pokémon World Championships in Boston this August.
Lynnwood webmaster honored for avoiding driving alone to work
Community Transit’s Choice Connections program recognizes worksites in Snohomish County and the city of Bothell who support state commute trip reduction goals. Choice Connections awards honor individuals and groups who go above and beyond to use smart transportation alternatives to driving alone.
The Smart Commuter of the Quarter for the third quarter of 2014 was Ben Stockinger, webmaster for the city of Lynnwood. Stockinger has been a devoted advocate of alternative transportation for the past 15 years by biking, walking and carpooling to work and meetings. He is a personal advocate at his worksite and helps educate his coworkers on biking to work. Stockinger most often bikes to work, rain or shine.
The award comes with $250 and a nomination for the Smart Commuter of the Year award.
Also honored were Marko Liias as the Employee Transportation Coordinator of the Quarter, for his efforts to boost Commute Trip Reduction efforts at the city of Mukilteo, and Panasonic Avionics Corp. as Employer of the Quarter.
