Everett girl performs in ‘Nutcracker’
Rachael Young, of Everett, performs in the role of Baby Mouse in Pacific Northwest Ballet’s production of the “Stowell and Sendak Nutcracker.” Rachael and the other young dancers in the show attend PNB School, which is recognized as one of the top three ballet training institutions in the U.S.
This is the last year the ballet company will perform the beloved version of “Nutcracker,” created by founding artistic director Kent Stowell and children’s author and illustrator Maurice Sendak. Performances continue through Dec. 28. Tickets are available at pnb.org.
Rotary donation will provide beds for kids
The Port Gardner Rotary Club of Everett recently donated $1,000 to St. Vincent de Paul North Sound Council. All of the money will be used to purchase beds for children who are otherwise sleeping on the floor in their homes.
Yacht Club makes holiday donations
The Everett Yacht Club recently presented donations to two local service groups.
The club raised over $1,800 at a November cake auction to benefit Everett’s Cocoon House, which serves homeless and at-risk teens in Snohomish County. Club members also collected more than 100 unwrapped gifts for Christmas House, which provides an opportunity for qualifying, low-income Snohomish County parents to “shop” for free holiday gifts for their children.
“It is the time of year that we share our hearts with those that are important to us. And, of most importance, we also open our hearts to those less fortunate than ourselves,” Everett Yacht Club Commodore Doug Carmean said.
