Seniors get new ride thanks to Boeing grant
A new six-wheelchair accessible vehicle arrived at Bethany of the Northwest Foundation Sept. 23 thanks to a $40,000 grant from the Employees Community Fund of Boeing.
The vehicle has a rear 1,000-pound hydraulic lift and large viewing windows.
The new vehicle will help low-income, disabled seniors in Everett get to activities outside the nursing home. Sherry Esp, one of Bethany’s disabled residents, cut the ceremonial ribbon to the vehicle.
Volunteers help spruce up Arlington
More than two dozen volunteers from Smokey Point Community Church cleaned up downtown Arlington on Sept. 26. They painted 37 lamp post bases and refinished two wood sculptures. They also weeded at Olympic Place and around the Legion Park parking lot.
The next day, about 20 employees from Senior Aerospace AMT painted the exterior of B&T Auto in conjunction with United Way’s Day of Caring.
Both projects were aimed at helping beautify the area as part of the Arlington-Darrington America’s Best Communities bid.
