ARLINGTON — Three people have now died following a collision between a sedan and a gravel truck east of Arlington, investigators said.
Around 11 a.m. Aug. 23, the road was slick with fluid that likely leaked from another car in the 19300 block of Jordan Road, Fire District 21 Chief Chad Schmidt said at the time.
The driver of the sedan crashed head-on into a gravel truck, Schmidt said. The front-seat passenger in the sedan, Dena Carter, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and another passenger was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.
Ronald Carter, 64, and Chelsea Radford, 31, both died two days later at hospitals, authorities confirmed. All three of the deceased were in the sedan. All died of blunt force injuries.
Meanwhile, the gravel truck driver was taken to Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington.
Authorities suspected the fluid on the road was fuel, likely diesel, but the exact source was unclear.
Detectives were still investigating the collision Tuesday, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
A sheriff’s spokesperson was unable to provide further details.
