ARLINGTON — Firefighters on Monday evening used chain saws, shovels and axes to tear through brush to get to a fire the size of a football field.
A dozen firefighters cut through brush to create a path for a Getchell fire truck carrying 200 gallons of water, Arlington spokeswoman Christine Badger said.
Crews were called to the 6300 block of 172 Street NE just after 5 p.m.
Firefighters hiked 100 yards to reach a slow- moving brush fire that could be seen from as far as the airport and the Gleneagles area, Badger said.
No one was hurt, and the fire didn’t spread to any structures. Flames were knocked down in less than an hour.
Investigators don’t know how the fire started, Badger said. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Arlington Fire Department at 360-403-3600.
