The Arlington Garden Club awarded its annual $2,000 scholarship to Ashley Mahar of Lake Stevens High School. Mahar plans to attend the University of Washington in the fall.
Scholarship money was raised from an annual holiday garden art, crafts and plant sale.
The Garden Club also awarded $150 each to four high schools in the area for their FFA programs and $200 to the WSU Snohomish County Extension for various programs. Other donations also were made in the past year, for a total of $4,115.
The results were celebrated at a June 11 meeting, where the group also installed its officers for the 2018-19 year: President Judy Ness, Vice President Janet Hawley, Secretary Christine Nielsen and Treasurer Barbara Lindberg.
