LAKEWOOD — One person was killed and two were injured in a suspected DUI crash early Sunday, when a wrong-way driver from Arlington crashed head-on into a car on I-5 in Pierce County, police said.
Around 3:50 a.m., an Arlington man was driving south in the northbound lanes near Joint Base Lewis-McChord, south of Tacoma, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The man reportedly crashed his Acura into a Nissan Titan pickup, troopers said. The Titan driver was injured and taken to St. Joseph Medical Center. A passenger, Angelica Roberto Campos, of Puyallup, was taken to Madigan Army Medical Center, where she later died. She was 52.
The Acura driver was also taken to Madigan Army Medical Center, but a hospital spokesperson said he was later transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He faced DUI and vehicular homicide charges, according to the state patrol.
