Arlington truck accident victim is identified

ARLINGTON — The Snohomish County medical examiner on Monday identified a man who died in a traffic collision last week.

Brant T. Boushey, 19, of Arlington died at the scene after his 1987 Dodge pickup and a semi-truck collided in the intersection of 67th Avenue NE (Armar Road) and Wade Road.

Boushey died from a bruised brain and a lacerated aorta, the medical examiner’s staff said.

The crash occurred at 11:48 a.m. Friday as the semi was northbound on 67th and Boushey’s westbound pickup was pulling out from a stop sign on Wade.

Mold empties class: Mold has forced a third-grade class in a portable at Mukilteo Elementary School to move into a computer lab on the campus, school officials said Monday. The doctor of a teacher with pulmonary health problems urged the district to examine the classroom, which did have mold levels that could be a health concern to the teacher, said Andy Muntz, a district spokesman. "It does have (spores) in it that can cause a reaction in sensitive individuals," Muntz said. "We decided just to move her classroom into the computer lab so she wouldn’t have to deal with that." A biologist found that the levels were safe for occupancy. The portable will be used for classes such as Spanish, occupational therapy and small work groups, Muntz said. The computers from the computer lab were dispersed into individual classrooms.

Burlington

Train, truck collide: A Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight train collided with a dump truck Monday at a private crossing about a mile west of the city. Initial reports indicated the dump truck driver was not injured, and no one on the train crew was injured, railroad spokesman Gus Melonas said. The accident occurred about 12:45 p.m. as a local train headed west to Anacortes collided with the truck. The train was traveling at less than 10 mph, and the crew applied the brakes but could not stop short of a collision, he said. Burlington Northern operates two freight trains on that line daily, Melonas said.

Everett

Motorcyclist airlifted after collision: One person was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center Monday night after a collision between a car and a motorcycle on Highway 526, the Boeing freeway. Few details were available. The collision occurred about 8:45 p.m. in the westbound lanes between I-5 and the Evergreen Way exit, authorities said. The motorcycle rider was thrown and severely injured.
