Lynnwood: Police event for kidsLynnwood police plan a free family-friendly event from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Alderwood mall. Kids will be able to tour police cars and talk to officers.

Marysville: Applicants soughtThe city of Marysville is seeking citizens interested in serving on the Salary Commission and Library Board. The independent seven-member Salary Commission conducts annual reviews of compensation for the elected Mayor and City Council. Commission members are limited to two three-year terms and meet annually or as necessary.

Applicants for the Library Board position must reside within either the city limits or in the Marysville School District. The board meets at 4 p.m. the second Thursday in odd-numbered months in the Marysville Public Library, 6120 Grove St. Terms are for five years.

To apply for either position, submit a letter of interest, resume or both to Deputy City Clerk April O’Brien at Marysville City Hall, 1049 State Ave., Marysville, WA 98270. The deadline is 5 p.m. June 17. For more information, contact the Clerk’s Office at 360-363-8077.

Mill Creek: Committee chosenThe City Council has appointed members to Mill Creek’s new economic development committee.

Randy Blair, Harpreet Cheema, Jack Dinniene, Chuck Dominguez, James Erlewine, Donna Gardner, Kevin Giboney, Steven Lindle, John Nelson, Tim Panos, Bill Schatz, Kim Stevens, Tom Stewart, Scott Turner and Bob Vick are to develop and recommend ideas to the City Council to promote economic development in Mill Creek.

The first public meeting is expected to take place early this month.

Monroe: Seeks ideas for growthThe city of Monroe is updating its comprehensive plan, which establishes policies and projects for the next 20 years. The city is taking ideas this week to develop and choose future growth patterns in Monroe. People can come to 202 W. Main St. to participate today and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. People can also stop by from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Friday.

An open house is set from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. There’s also a workshop scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

City Council cancels meeting The Monroe City Council meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled.

The next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. June 10. The meetings take place at City Hall, 806 W. Main St. For more information, call 360-794-7400.

Snohomish: Disaster trainingThe city of Snohomish is looking people to sign up for disaster training to build local response resources.

Community Emergency Response Team training teaches people how to survive a major disaster and provide assistance to others. It begins in June.

The training includes lessons on disaster preparedness, fire suppression, medical assistance, psychology and search and rescue.
